Audition Registration Process
- Step 1: Download Application Form
- Step 2: Email the Application Form to (registration@daayo.org) before 9PM on August 13th, 2013 and Cindy Liu (cindydaayo@yahoo.com) will contact You to Confirm Your Audition Time
- Step 3: Download and Prepare the Audition Materials
- Step 4: Must Pay A Non-Refundable Audition Fee $15 on the Day of Audition. Check and Cash are Acceptable. Write a Check Payable to “DAAYO”
Audition Preparation
- Accompanist Is Not Required
- Please Provide THREE Additional Copy of Music for the Judges
- Memorization of Music Is Not Required
- Professional Attire is Encouraged

- One 2-octave scale of your choice that demonstrates shifting
- Excerpts (See below for the excerpts)

Violin:
- 5 scales in 3-octave: C, G, D, A and Bb
- Movement I of a Concerto (preferable) or any solo work of your choice
- Excerpts (See below for the excerpts)
- Sight-reading excerpts (Excerpts will be provided by judging panel)
Viola:
- 5 scales in 3-octave: C, G, D, A and Bb
- Movement I of a Concerto (preferable) or any solo work of your choice
- Excerpts (See below for the excerpts)
- Sight-reading excerpts (Excerpts will be provided by judging panel)
Cello and Bass:
- 5 scales in 2-octave: G, D, A, F and Bb
- A complete solo work of your choice
- Excerpts (See below for the excerpts)
- Sight-reading excerpts (Excerpts will be provided by judging panel)
Woodwind:
- 3 scales in 2- or 3-octave: written pitch C, A and Bb (Be prepared to demonstrate legato and staccato articulation within these scales)
- A complete solo work of your choice
- Excerpts (See below for the excerpts)
- Sight-reading excerpts (Excerpts will be provided by judging panel)
Brasswind
- 2 scales in 2-octave: Written pitch C and Eb (Be prepared to demonstrate legato and staccato articulation within these scales)
- A complete solo work of your choice

- One fast AND one slow works of your choice.
- 2- or 3-octave major scales with arpeggios up to three sharps and three flats.

New Member Audition Policy:
· Membership in DAAYO is open to all talented young musicians from all ethnic groups and races in Dallas-Ft Worth area.
· DAAYO members should participate in their regular school’s band or orchestra programs when offered. All DAAYO members who are qualified for the 2011 All-region band/orchestra and 2012 All-State band/orchestra will be recognized at DAAYO’s concerts.
· Membership fee for the school year should be paid in full on or before the first rehearsal day.
· Scholarships based solely on financial need are available for students for whom DAAYO membership represents a financial burden.

All-Region, All-Area and All-State Orchestra and Band Players:
1) Applicants with these distinctions are automatically accepted into DAAYO.
2) Applicants must still audition; audition will be used to determine which ensemble is the best fit for the applicant.
Multiple Member Family:
1) Member in the highest level orchestra pays full membership fee;
2) Each additional family member receives $50 discount for the season.
